In “It Was Me,” Rosemary Joaquin revels in finally telling her friends that she and her girlfriend are a thing.
The video features Joaquin happily running around dancing with her two sisters by the beach. I love it! The scenery is beautiful, and Joaquin and her sisters are super cute together.
Also of interest: two of Joaquin’s previous music videos, those for “Erika” (see also the stripped version) and “A Little More”, have lesbian storylines.
I couldn’t find any articles or interviews that touch on Joaquin’s recent music, but Joaquin seems to be very active on social media (TikTok and Instagram), where she mostly talks about her music. She revealed on her social media that the girl she approaches at the every end of the “Erika” music video is her real-life girlfriend, and that the choreography for “It Was Me” was done by her girlfriend and friend.
From her Instagram post on “It Was Me”:
To me, this song has always been about taking a leap of faith- having something so good that you wanna show it to the world. Taking a risk and opening the gates to your secret hideaway.
